Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information GujuLoveGuru collects, how we use and share it, and the rights and choices you have. It applies to our website, mobile experiences, and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

You give us: account details (name, email, phone number, date of birth, password); profile information (photos, prompts, bio, community, religion, diet, languages, interests, location, career, family values, relationship goals); identity verification (a photo of a government-issued ID and a live selfie); messages and photos you share with other members; subscription and payment information processed by our payment provider; and any support correspondence.

We collect automatically: device and browser information, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, log data, in-app actions (likes, passes, messages sent), and cookie or similar identifiers.

From third parties: if you sign in with Google or Apple, the basic profile information that service provides; payment confirmations from our payment processor; and abuse signals from anti-fraud vendors.

2. How we use information

We use your information to: create and operate your account; run matching and show your profile to other verified members; verify your identity and age; process subscriptions; provide our AI features (such as compatibility insights and conversation icebreakers); detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations; send service emails (e.g., confirmations, password resets, important updates); respond to support requests; and improve and secure the Service. We do not sell your personal information.

3. AI features

When you use AI-powered features (e.g., "LoveGuru Picks" insights or icebreakers), we send relevant profile fields to a trusted AI provider acting on our behalf under a data-processing contract. The AI provider does not use your data to train general-purpose models, and outputs are shown only to you.

4. Sharing

With other members: profile photos, prompts, and details you choose to add are visible to other verified members. Messages are visible to the recipient.

With service providers: hosting, database, AI, payments, email delivery, analytics, and identity-verification vendors that process information on our behalf under contract.

For legal reasons: we may disclose information to comply with valid legal process, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, or property of GujuLoveGuru, our members, or the public.

Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred subject to this policy.

5. ID and verification photos

Your government ID image and verification selfie are stored in an encrypted, access-restricted bucket and are visible only to our trained verification team. They are never shown to other members and never used for advertising. We retain them only as long as needed to confirm your identity and to defend against fraud or chargebacks, and then we delete or anonymize them.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functions (keeping you signed in), security, preferences, and limited analytics. You can manage cookies in your browser. Disabling essential cookies will break sign-in.

7. Your choices

You can edit or hide profile fields at any time, turn off discovery (incognito), block or report another member, and unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link in those emails. You can delete your account from Settings → Account.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including California under the CCPA/CPRA and other U.S. state privacy laws), you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct inaccurate information; delete your personal information; obtain a portable copy; limit the use of sensitive information; and not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights. To make a request, email privacy@gujuloveguru.com from the address on your account. We will respond within the timeframes required by law and may need to verify your identity first.

You may also designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, subject to verification.

9. Retention

We keep account information for as long as your account is active. After deletion we remove personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, or safety reasons (for example, records of payments or of users banned for violations).

10. Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), encryption at rest for sensitive fields, role-based access controls, row-level security on our database, and audit logging. No service is perfectly secure. Use a strong, unique password and protect your email account.

11. Children

The Service is only for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, email privacy@gujuloveguru.com and we will delete it.

12. International users

The Service is operated from the United States and intended for U.S. residents. If you access it from outside the U.S., you understand your information will be processed in the U.S., which may have different data-protection laws than your country.

13. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
